A brief biography

A LIFE ON THE RAILWAYS

William met his wife Dorothy when he was a boy porter at Four Oaks Railway Station. As they were so young they had to wait five years before they could be married, two days after Dorothy came of age. They married at 8am, and by 9am William was back at work.
William worked for the railways for fifty years, rising to the position of Inspector at Birmingham New Cross Station. After retirement, William and Dorothy drove 60,000 miles, touring around England and Wales in a car given them by their children.
