Born in South Shields, Tyne And Wear in 1932, the twenty-second year of the reign of King George V, and died aged fifty in South Shields, Tyne and Wear in the thirtieth year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II

Elizabeth (Betty) was born at the Lawe Top (Morton Street/Wellington Street area) in South Shields, Co. Durham (now Tyne and Wear) on 12th May 1932. She moved to Cleadon Park Estate when very young and attended Cleadon Park School. She worked at the Vidor Battery Co, Station Bank and at the Victoria Bottling Co., Green Lane, South Shields, after which she joined the WRNS and was posted to HMS CERES, Wetherby, Yorks, where she met her husband Brian. She was married in Harton Methodist Church, South Shields, on 5th April 1951. She had three daughters, Elizabeth May, Sonja and Julie Ann. She lived at 93 Froude Avenue and 13 Chesterton Road, South Shields, Betty died of cancer on 7th June 1982 in South Shields General Hospital and was cremated at South Shields Crematorium.
