A brief biography

Betty Richardson

Brought up in Bletchingley, one of six children of William and Edith Risbridger. Worked in Croydon during the War.
Married John Richardson in 1950 and had three children, and lived in Colley Lane in Reigate. Became a magistrate in Reigate Magistrates Court. Bought a derelict cottage near Llandyssul for £500 around 1970 and completely rebuilt it, spending much of her summers there with her best friend Madeleine Lawless. After the kids left home, John and Betty returned to Bletchingley, bought a row of three workmen's cottages in Coldharbour Lane and converted them into two homes.
