Daughter of William Risbridger and Emma Burbery. .

Born in 1886, the forty-ninth year of the reign of Queen Victoria.

EARLY YEARS


Ethel was born in March 1886, the same year as her parents were married.
At the time of the 1901 census, Ethel was a 15 year old working as a domestic servant for the Spalding family in Betchworth.
In 1908 aged 22 she married Malcolm George Carter and went to live in Linslade, Buckinghamshire where her huband was a motor mechanic, just like two of her brothers.
